St Andrews Tennis Club
St Andrews Tennis Club is a community amateur sports club run entirely by volunteers. Based at Kinburn Park, St Andrews the club aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all those who wish to play tennis. Its members range from age 5 to 85, non-members and visitors are also most welcome.
The club aims to promote health and well-being through outdoor sport, providing sporting opportunities through fun, social and competitive tennis, the club actively encourages all ages to take part with over 13 teams typically competing each week.
There is a very active junior programme starting with mini tennis which aims to get children from age 5 upwards involved in tennis. This feeds into a progressive coaching programme for juniors.
With the support of the Community Trust, the club has recently reconstructed three of their courts, replacing the hard core sub-base, improving drainage and replacing the playing surface.
Elisa Mclachlan, President St Andrews Tennis Club said:
“I would like to thank The Trust for its continuing support of the club and its activities. The court reconstruction is a huge project which the Club has been working on for many years. We are very grateful for the Trust’s decisive award, which along with other awards and the Club’s own fundraising efforts, has allowed the work to go ahead this summer.”
